Later he purchased and operated Piedmont Business Forms, Inc. Ken worked at Midstate Contractors for many years as the company treasurer. While at Lenoir Rhyne, Ken made many lifelong friends that he cherished until his last days. Ken was a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College ('60 ) where he received a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Ken has many nieces, nephews, family members and friends whom he loved dearly. Those left to cherish Ken's memory are two brothers: Mike Ferguson and wife Linda of Hickory, John (Buck) Ferguson of Detroit, MI, Beverly Pruitt of Hickory, Karen Ellison and husband Johnny of Dudley Shoals and a very special nephew, Chris Ferguson and wife Donna of Hickory. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother Beulah Baker Ferguson, two brothers, Jack and Bill Ferguson four sisters, Charlotte Waters, Maxine Gilbert, Doris Gallager and Louise Fox Sheehan. Born Octoin Detroit Michigan to the late John Porter and Sadie Saad Ferguson. Kenneth Lee Ferguson, 83, of Hickory went peacefully to be with our Lord Wednesday, Apat Catawba Valley Medical Center. Bass - Smith Funeral Home and Cremations of Hickory is assisting the family of Mr. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 26th beginning at 6:00pm also at Highland Baptist Church. Receiving of family and friends will be held on Monday, April 25th from 5:00pm - 8:00pm at Highland Baptist Church. They were always very professional and caring while Ken was with them. The family wants to extend a special thanks to the staff at Catawba Valley Medical Center for the excellent care he received white in the CCU Unit, 5th Floor Nurses and the Oncology Dept. He will be missed by all who knew him because we Truly have lost a great and humble person that cared more about others than he did himself. Ken loved his Lord, his Family, his Church and his Friends. He truly embraced their motto "Service above Self" in everything he did. He was committed to the Rotary Club and has received many awards throughout his almost 50 years of service. Ken was also a charter member of the Lake Hickory Rotary Club since 1973 when the club began. He deeply loved his church and church family and made many lifelong friends while attending Highland Baptist Church. While attending Highland he served as Sunday School Teacher, Member of the Choir, assisted in youth programs and later was a member of the JOY Makers. Ken was a member of Highland Baptist Church, Hickory, NC for over 50 years. He treated people with respect and never took advantage of anyone either in his personal life or professional career. He was highly respected and loved by his employees and customers for his honesty and integrity.
